5 Affordable & Second Hand Toddler Halloween Costume Tips
Accept Hand-me-downs
Most costumes only get worn once, so why not use and pass down a costume for your little one? This can be a costume that you give or that someone gives to you, or a costume that you find second hand at a thrift store. Washing costumes is easy, but damaging the Earth by constantly throwing out things that are worn once is proving very difficult for us as we are in the midst of a climate crisis.

Hand Me Down Sully Costume
Little Boo’s older cousin wore this costume over 10 years ago! He was able to fit it last year and still will be able to fit it this year, so he’ll be wearing it twice!
Affordable Halloween Costumes – Shopping at Discount Stores
Discount stores, holiday sales, second hand – all of these are perfectly good ways to find a costume! You can make simple costumes into whatever you want – go all out or keep it simple. Here are the discount costumes that Little Boo wore during Halloween month last year.

Fox Ears, Nose, and Tail Halloween Costume
This is the cutest little costume that I found either at a discount store or in the affordable section of a retail store. I love simple little costumes like this because they are great for Halloween events that happen before Halloween, like school or library events.

Bat Ears & Wings
This cute 2 piece is simple, so Little Boo is dressed simply. This costume is an everyday staple, because who doesn’t want to flap their bat wings around the house whenever they feel like it?

Transformers Costume from a Discount Store
So… it took me a long time to find the mask that matches this one piece body costume, but I DID IT! Discount stores receive what’s left over from other stores, and what could definitely become trash, at a lower price.

Little Tractor – End of Season Purchase
Many stores discount seasonal items like Halloween costumes once the holiday has passed. This is a good time to buy things that you could use for this holiday next year. I never want to overbuy things just because they’re on sale, so I approach these sales prices with a minimalist approach. I found this costume at the end of the season 2 years ago, and it has been a dress up box costume as well as a Halloween month costume. He still plays with it now!
