If you’re looking for fun new books to add to your child’s library this spring, try these out!

Kids Can Press releases some of the most fun and engaging books that G (6) loves to read repeatedly. The books are always entertaining and educational. Some of his favorites are usually about animals. I appreciate the books that the release that help kids deal with loss and death. It’s a difficult subject to talk about, especially when you’re dealing with grieving yourself as the adult. We’ve received two books now that help kids process it through the stories that they tell.
The new Spring 2023 release for Kids Can Press is full of more fun, educational, witty, funny, and endearing books. I hope you find some that you and your young learner will love, too!
Spring 2023 Newly Released Children’s Picture Books
These are the new books that we received from Kids Can Press this season:

“Burt the Beetle Lives Here”
by Ashley Spires
Ages 5-8, Grades K-3
This graphic novel style illustrated story takes the reader on an adventure to explore and learn about the homes of several different insects with Burt the Beetle as he tries to find his own home. Lots of giggles with this one based on how some insects create their homes. Yes, there’s poop, or “bum foam,” involved.

“What Were You Expecting?: First Words for New Parents”

This one’s for the parents! Ok, it meets the requirements of helping little ones hear a lot of words in their day. But like many animated movies these days, the words make the parents and kids laugh in different ways. It is cleverly and hilariously written to make bedtime story time fun for all.

“Granny Left Me a Rocket Ship”
by Heather Smith
Ages 4-7, Grades P-2
Both somber and uplifting, this book is one that helps normalize talking about death. The main character remembers what his Granny left for him through his imagination. It’s a sweet book especially for kids who have lost a grandparent.

“Binky the Space Cat: The Top Secret Collection”
by Ashley Spires
Ages 7-10, Grades 2-5
This is a fun graphic novel series about an intelligent little cat’s imaginative adventures to outer space. It’s a perfect book series for young readers who aren’t ready for chapter books yet, but that can stay engaged across different books with na series.

“The Best Way to Get Your Way”
by Tanya Lloyd Kyi
Ages 8-12, Grades 3-7
The title is tricky, but this book is a tool to help kids learn the art of debate! So get your way, kiddo, and learn how to do so logically and with successful arguments that can’t be denied.

Ages 6-9, Grades 1-4
